A Little Taste of New York

This post should probably really be named "Diners, Drive Ins, Dives, or Graizing our way through New York!" Thought we'd share a litte taste of what we have been experiencing here in our brief stay in New York. Lucky for us, we've seen all of the touristy places so this time, we came for the.... a.... taste of it, well, sort of. Here is just a small sample -

One of our first stops was the Carnegie Deli, where we "split" this open faced Reuben. This is what you call a $35.00 New York Sandwich! It was OUTSTANDING!

We made our way downtown to search out the famous Peanut Butter & Company shop. They sell everything peanut butter (duh) and we helped ourselves to a piece of rich peanut butter pie.

Another place we had to check out was Magnolia's Bakery - oh my, just walking in to that place sent the taste buds into orbit. We had it on the best authority (Berlynn, to be exact) that we had to try the Red Velvet cupcake, and we weren't disappointed!

The last picture we have (but certainly not the last place we ate), is Nathan's on Coney Island. Awh, the dogs were worth the hour long subway ride out of the city, they were crisp, hot and delicious. Nathan's is kind enough to post the calories of EVERYTHING they serve there, how thoughtful. Curt had a regular plus chili dog (not so impressed with the chili).

I am a real fan of corn dogs - but thanks to the aforementioned calorie counter, I changed my mind and stuck with the hotdog & bun. It was worth the trip.

We have also enjoyed an "authentic" New York white pizza pie. Baked in a coal fired oven, thin crispy crust with fresh moz. cheese and fresh basil (YES, there IS a huge taste difference). Ellen's Starlight Diner where Curt wowed the people by getting up and dancing - he recommends the Blue Plate Meatloaf Special (comfort food).
We are having a ball, eating along the way - New York has a great sampling of almost every kind of food (minus Mexican) you could dream of. Lest you thing ALL we are doing is eating - you're wrong, we are seeing, experiencing and really enjoying our New York trip! Now - we're graizing our way to Philidelphia and Brandon's graduation!
