Welcome Home!

We're so happy that Brandon, Jamie, Berlynn and Ezra have made it back to Utah (now home) safely. Jamie and the kids arrived by plane and Brandon drove the household goods cross country. We had a pizza dinner on Monday to celebrate - only the night was nearly over by the time I even thought about taking pictures! So - these are kind of lame, but here are a few to share. These are our precious grand kids (the girls already decked out in their princess outfits, Ez loving the balloons!)

Playing with the Polly Pockets -

Princess make-up and fancy nails!

Getting ready to watch the Jazz -

It's so exciting to have them back safe and sound. Now another adventure for Brandon & Jamie begins as Brandon gets ready to start work and they find a place to live. Good luck you guys - and WELCOME HOME!

Annie's a winner -

Today, Annie was honored at the Murray City Park for her beautiful rendition of "Trees are Life". Her picture was choosen to represent her pre-school class and we are pretty proud of her.
Here is her creative picture - we think it looks a lot like a "weeping willow" tree

They even had a picnic of hot dogs, chips, apple, cookie & drink - for all of the contest winners

And then, we did what all kids do - we played and played at the park nearby

Contragulations Annie - we hope this is just the beginning of your art successes and you will continue to follow in your mother's footsteps .

To spray or not to spray...

In preparation for our upcoming Mexican vacation, and more importantly - to spare everyone from the blinding glare from my "celestial" white skin (might look great on Edward, but I'm not Edward) - I tried out the "spray tanning" booth last night. Hey, I'm old and way out of touch with how things are done now-a-days, and this is out of my comfort zone, but I'm just vain enough so I tried it. In my younger days, I did try out the tanning beds, but alas - I DON'T tan and no amout of sun or artificial rays will change that - I actually had a reaction to the beds which resulted in a doctor visit with costly creams so the tanning beds are out. The kind lady at the tanning place told me it would take 6 - 8 hours before I would know how well it did - so when I woke up this morning - this is what I felt I looked like....

Or, maybe not quite that dark. I only went with the Level 1 (can you only imagine what I would have looked like if I had gone with the Level 3?). So - I have laughed all day remembering Zoolander, when he worked with his Pop and brothers in the mine - couldn't find a picture of that one, just use your imagination.

Sorry guys, no pictures of myself just yet - at work, under the florecent lights, I do look a bit orange. It has been fun to hear the different comments and jabs made on my behalf today. The jury is still out on whether or not I'll continue doing it after our vacation but in the meantime at least I won't be blinding anyone on the beach!

Yes, I am a Jazz fan - but....

What do you think? Unfortunately, I agree with the Tribune front page today. I will support, cheer and watch my beloved Jazz take on the Lakers.

Happy Easter

"He is not here; for He is risen" Matthew 28:6
How very grateful I am on this glorious day, to acknowledge my love and devotion to our Saviour. I pray for continued guidance to walk each day on the path He has shown. How wonderful and amazing is the Atonement.

32 Years and counting -

Yep, that's right on April 8, 1977 Curt and I were married. It was a beautiful, colorful event as you can tell from some of the pictures below -

Although High School sweethearts (thanks to my brother Steven), our marriage has not been the storybook, fairy tale dream I think we both envisioned. Don't get us wrong, we are very happy BUT it has taken a lot of work, dedication, love and caring and we are here to state it is great - and getting better and better each and every year! In honor of our anniversary, we sat together and came up with 32 memory/events we have LOVED about being married. In no particular order (except the first 4), here they are - how many have you been part of:

1) Sealed together as a family for time and all eternity
2) The births of our children
3) The marriages of our children
4) The births of our grandchildren
5) Moving/living in Alaska (including babysitting Jewel and her brothers)
6) Certified Scuba divers and the adventures that has afforded (including my first attempt in the bathtub of our apartment)
7) Our home
8) Traveling and family vacations - including some of the following:
9) Hard Rock Cafe excursions ("gotta get the pin")
10) Vegas Weekend Get-a-ways (remember the "Chariot of Fire")
11) Tahiti (Marisa being taken captive by the Natives - "Marisa, don't go!")
12) San Diego and the Crystal Pier
13) Hawaii (Curt taking us all to Costco for lunch, come on, isn't it funny now?)
14) Europe (especially visiting Elder Bohn)
15) Mexico (now our home away from home)
16) LAKE POWELL trips
17) Family Reunions (each and every one of them!)
18) The White Rocket (Curt's Lebaron)
19) Curt's graduation from Weber State University
20) Salmon fishing on the Russian River, Alaska - before it was the thing to do!
21) Watching Brandon participate in athletic sports of all types (how about that penalty box?)
22) Watching Marisa dance her little heart away!
23) The CABIN! Doesn't that bring back memories?
24) Marcia's graduation from SLCC (how long did it take???)
25) Brandon/Marisa's graduation from High School
26) Marcia's Suzuki Samurai (the cheap jeep - how many kids did we stuff in there?

27) Brandon's missionary service in Berlin, Germany

28) Curt's activiation and deployment for Desert Storm (we did not LOVE this, but it was pretty significant and we are proud of his military service)
29) Brandon/Jamie's graduation from the "U"
30) Brandon's upcoming graduation from Temple
31) Working together as ordinance workers in the Bountiful Temple
32) Still excited to be together - and looking forward to more adventures in the years ahead!

Wow, where has the time gone? I plainly remember when we got married and John VanWeezep said "You look at each other now and think there is no way you could ever love each other more, but in the years that lie ahead, you will look back on this love and wonder how it was ever enough to have gotten married in the first place". I certainly realize the truth of that statement now, and simply couldn't imagine my life without Curt. I know our love will continue to grow and am looking so forward to the upcoming years. Thanks Curt, Happy Anniversary - I love you!

I love post-it notes

I had a little visitor at my office - who left me lots of things to consider and contemplate throughout my day.
Thanks for making my day Annie!

You may have to click on the picture to enlarge it and get the full effect of her notes.

My new burger joint -

Marisa & I tried a new place today for lunch, "The Counter" at the Gateway. It was a little bit of work, but seriously - SO worth it. If you like burgers, and I mean BURGERS "The Counter" is the place for you.

Here's your little bit of work - the menu. You literally pick everything (beef, turkey, chicken or veggie), to size of said protein, sauces, condiments, even type of bun - if you don't want a bun, you can get it in a bowl!
We thought we'd be extra healthy and order sweet potato fries - oh man! Healthy? I doubt it, but oh so yummy. So if you're in the mood for an old fashioned GREAT burger - The Counter is the place.
