Monday morning - 7:00 a.m. promt (Labor Day mind you), guess who's on the job ready to start? Here's a rare glimps of Jason (the builder), hard at work setting the floor joists
At the end of the day, here's what was accomplished, the floor is on, the garage framed and the south wall is up. A nice day (that's Curt checking out the view from the new family room) -
We had some visitors come to check out the work and explore the new room
Oh, and take a ride on this big, wonderful machine (NOT, but we let them sit in it and pretend)
Wednesday brought the plumber out to install a new water main and sprinkler access
Thursday the concrete guys showed up - they framed up the new front stairs (THAT'S a lot of stairs)
and poured our new garage floor -
Looky what got delivered a few days early! I didn't think I could get excited for roof trusses, but I was!
So with the trusses delivered early, Friday brought Jason (the builder) back to start on the roof and back wall framing - oh and the front stairs were poured. Do they look like chocolate to you? Curt and I decided to go with colored concrete to help break-up all of the cement we do have, but we both thought we picked out a lighter color, not quite so dark, I think it will look ok once we get the stone on and the landscaping in (we hope!)
Again, Curt has been working SO hard to keep up with Jason's quick pace and Friday and Saturday were no exception. He started ripping out the cabinets (we had some friends who actually wanted some of them for their garage), he worked and worked all day Saturday and they are finally out - gone!
Here's the view from our dining room looking out toward the south wall, which will soon be gone - all open into the new family room. Amazing to me at the speed this is really taking place, but Curt - exhausted - said to me last night "I'm SO ready for this to be over with" (he's worked so hard, he will need to be rewarded with a nice vacation - I'm thinking some place warm!)
Here is our new kitchen/dining/storage room. You might recognize it as our current living room - converted. Temporary (I hope REAL temporary). We are stretched and packed into almost every available nook and crany our house has - for now.
Excited for progress next week!!
