A new week - Monday consisted of waterproofing that new beautiful foundation. My company waterproofed it - they did a great job. This application is a rubberized liquid membrane with a protection fabric. It's probably overkill - the ground was SOOO dry and it IS a gravel pit afterall but it's what we do, so we did it
Tuesday brought the electricians out to install the electrical lines to the new posts that will light the new steps, as we climb them, to the front door -
We also noticed Jason (the builder) had been up to jack hammer out the remaining old porch
Wednesday, Thursday and most of Friday consisted of backfilling - here's our NEW porch, all filled in. It's big. I LOVE it!
Looking out our front door down what will eventually be our new stairs
A lot of people have noticed this 5' jog-out from the garage and asked what it's for. Well, we were able to extend our new garage/family room out 2 additional feet from the original but because of the set-backs for the property line, that's as far as we could go. The driveway, however, could extend out, so...the jog-out is essentially to put our garbage/recycle cans. Neat hu?
Friday, all the old "Panelra" insulation around the house was replaced with particle board so the new hardie board will attach better.
Hey....where did this beautiful "surfer girl" come from???? It's Cate - a needed and welcome break for us! Since we LOVE her, we thought we would share -
The supports are up to start laying the trusses for the new family room
The back yard grade is now complete and is making a great work space for Jason (the builder)
Looking out my kitchen door - still one huge drop (won't be much longer)
Remember that HUGE dirt pile we had? Well, this is what's left - I know depth is kind of hard to tell with my camera, but this is tiny! I tell you, Jason (the builder) is THE best. He sure knows his business!
Saturday, the work finally moved inside for us. Other than cramped space (we've got boxes/crates in nearly every available space) the inside has mostly been unaffected so far. Now, however, Curt has ripped up the carpet/pad in the dining room and down the hall -
He worked and worked HARD all day on Saturday and got all the subflooring up. This is what our dinning room/hall looks like now -
The only thing in this room is one essential element -- TV and satellite. If you know Curt, you may think he did this for himself - however - you would be mistaken. I begged and pestered him to hook it up - the dining room is the only receiver with the DVR hooked up and the new season of Pioneer Woman has started - I simply can not miss it (THANK'S babe - you're the best)
Ok.....remember how I've bragged about how clean and tidy Jason (the builder) is? WELL, look what I found left behind one day after work, can you belive it?
BUT - never fear, next day that plastic bottle was gone, everything picked up and stored away with the streets swept so clean you could eat off them - everything back to P.E.R.F.E.C.T.I.O.N!
Stay tuned to see what happens next week as our adventure continues ---
